Speech and language skills have a huge impact on the lives of kids and teens.
Whether it be pronouncing words correctly, speaking fluidly, putting thoughts into words, or understanding what words mean, communication challenges can make socializing with peers and managing the school day really difficult. Fortunately, SLPs have big toolboxes. The following are just some of the intervention techniques and programs that we incorporate in our work.
- Story Grammar MarkerⓇ
- Supporting Knowledge in Language and Literacy (SKILL)
- Story ChampsⓇ
- Expanding Expression Tool
- Lindamood-Bell’s Visualizing and Verbalizing Ⓡ
- Framing Your Thoughts
- Structured Academic Language Intervention (SALI)
At BC, your child’s therapist will work with you to create an individualized treatment plan by identifying functional goals that will boost your child’s success in academic and social settings. Everything we do has a purpose and our goals are always focused on building the skills that will make a real difference in your child’s success. We also make sure our kids enjoy their sessions! Your therapist will infuse evidence-based intervention methods with a dose of fun by incorporating your child’s interests and introducing enticing games and activities.
Therapy is available in-person or via remote sessions. Many clients appreciate scheduling some of their sessions as remote meetings for convenience and attending in-person sessions on occasion for that personal connection with their therapist. We know it’s a challenge to juggle a family’s schedule. You and your clinician will work together to find the right plan that connects your child’s therapy goals and your scheduling needs.
